Agriculture workers of Mogilev region started the first hay harvest. The region carries out laying-in of fodder. The information is provided by the regional agriculture and food committee.

By June 2 the region mowed 5% to the target; it is over 10 thousand hectares. The hay is lain off from 7 thousand hectares (64% of the harvested).

800 tons hay, over 15 thousand tons haylage, 400 tons silage is lain in. 1,650 tons forage is lain in according to the progressive technologies. By today the region has got 4.8 thousand tons forage reserve. It makes 0.12 centre forage for a reference head of cattle excluding pigs and poultry. It is less to last year’s results.

Agriculture workers are motivated to follow high production and technology discipline, high quality forage. The best example is one of “Kolhoz “Rodina” in Belynichi district where they stored forage to consume 18 months. The idea is to arrange an efficient year-round stalled keeping of cattle.

The region is completing sowing perennial herbs. Additional fertilizing of spring crops (38%), spring rape (17%), perennial herbs (77%), hayfields and pastures (37%) continues. A lot is done to protect the areas under crops from pests. Preventive measures are taken to protect crops, leguminous plants, spring rape, beetroot, potato, long-fibred flax.
